Title speaks for itself. I'm a temp and also the only advanced Excel user in the entire operations department. I get paid pennies on the dollar for something that only I know how to do, with no guarantee of full time employment. I purposely slack off even though there are things I can do to overhaul the entire department; they are getting what they paid for. Today, my boss popped the question: “can you make something to do all this automatically.” Unfortunately, I've told the truth.
I am not looking at a full time position after this contract. I am looking at a 6 month extension in the office with a ️ ONE DOLLAR an HOUR ️ raise for total of 8 months as a temp.
Long story short, I am getting scammed.
I've decided to not create my boss's magic button until my department change. I am not going to give him the keys to the castle before my new position is assured.
New boss also tried to intimidate me with termination if I refused to “put in the work” due to the criminally low pay, even after she revealed to me she “needed me yesterday.” Yeah? Okay. Good luck finding someone with my skillset at this rate. I know good and well there aren't any agencies in this pissant town that are selling office talent this low, and if you want to scam an intern, you are going to have to wait a while. I'm here to entertain this job for resume padding. I am jumping ship the first chance I get.
Always retain your leverage, guys. Don't sell your secrets to these computer illiterate boomers for free. Always remember that they hate you and our entire generation. My boss regularly makes derogatory comments about Millennials and Z and I just sit there with my mouth shut letting his cognitively declining ass throw a tantrum about becoming irrelevant.
