… not sure if this belongs here, but I do believe a majority of us who work any type of service industry from retail, to food, construction suffer from the abuse of cruel, senile, elderly clients.
I for one have had enough of it and have snapped and am considering filing a lawsuit against the elderly clients who happily took photos of me struggling to lift a tool, mocked me, complained to my boss and decided to penny pinch the company by refusing to pay for the hours I worked… their reasoning being “they don't want to pay for someone to learn on their property” yet expect new hires to immediatley know what is going on. I'm suspect they are posting these photos somewhere as to mock me, but I have no proof.
They are very very wealthy elderly clients with beach front property, and the husband has verbally abused other tradesmen on his property, i.e he has screamed at painters, and chased them down his driveway, with intent to be violent. I warned my supervisor if this client abuses me in any way I will leave the company, as I do not get paid to be screamed at. I have been abused my entire life, I refuse to deal with it at work.
This may or may not lead to me getting let go from my job. My manager was very calm and “chill” about it, he sees it as no issue, but my supervisor is trying to play nice to the clients, unfortunatley this means throwing me under the bus and telling me to “take the abuse.”
I am a landscaper, and I am a disabled young queer woman who has faced descrimination and physical/verbal sexual harassment from previous jobs. I do not qualify for disability pay because I am not considered disabled enough in the eyes of the government. But I enjoy working, and I enjoy landscaping. I take pride in what I do.
I thought I would share my story here, as I know so many of us are suffering from the abuse of rich elderly senile people who are burning this planet to the ground. It needs to end. It needs to end now before more people are hurt.
