I work at a plastic container manufacturing company. In November, a few coworkers and I were tasked with chopping off the steel frame and components of many old aluminum molds. The boss scrapped the aluminum parts for cash.
As of today, he called everyone in the building to a meeting. He stated that someone either threw away or stole a small pile of scrap aluminum molds that was apparently worth $150,000. I highly doubt that due to the aluminum being very poor quality.
He said that he's going to file a police report and block all employees' pending raises, bonuses and promotions for 2023. He said the “higher ups” demanded this block to recoup the losses on the stolen/trashed “goods”.
Is this legal? I've never heard of a thing like this before.
