“Boss” blows up my phone to yell at me about something HE taught me to do-so I quit

Lets's start with this: Been a 1099 worker for this company for 2.5 weeks. 2 1/2 WEEKS!!! And these are the issues I had in this short time! Lol The “training” was not training at all, they gave me a sheet of paper with loose explanations on it and sent me on my way. I have been following the shitty explanations to the “T.” On multiple occasions in this two week time frame, I have been called multiple times off of work hours until I answered to discuss a non-emergency situation, usually in regards to reasons why the shitty explanation on the piece of paper is incorrect and how I “REALLY” have to do something. I have been told multiple times that I'm doing something wrong, but they can't keep their own story straight. Calling them out using the paperwork, and keeping convos strictly professional fell on deaf ears, because…

The “training” was not training at all, they gave me a sheet of paper with loose explanations on it and sent me on my way. Calling them out using the paperwork, and keeping convos strictly professional fell on deaf ears, because they deny what I would say, and would tell me whatever follows their narrative in the moment.

I have to pay all of my own gas, add HUNDREDS of miles to my own car every week, get harrassed out of work hours, all for shitty pay, delivery zones an hour and more outside of what I was promised. When I was called to get hired for this position, it was pitched to me a COMPLETELY different way then it's ended up being: part time, specific zones with a 40-50 mile radius, “we care for our people,” etc.

Yesterday, I'd been off of work since 3:45pm/4 o'clock. At 8:00pm, my phone wouldn't stop ringing. I had my phone charging in another part of the house, and my boyfriend said he could hear it going off. (I'm hard of hearing and had my hearing aids out at the time).

When I finally responded by text asking how I could be of assistance, this guy expects me to explain myself for a situation HE taught me how to do. Pretty much, I was taught that we're not allowed to put packages IN mailboxes because it's a $10,000 fine, so if we can't access the front door, we have to put the packages on the ground by the mailbox.

I got scathing texts messages when I wouldn't respond to phone calls/text messages immediately accusing me of not doing my job and ruining packages. Upon referring to my “training,” the guy resorted to blowing up my phone and telling me that I was wrong and he's going to figure out the “damage I caused” and circle back tomorrow (which was today).

After showing my significant other the amount of times this man called, as well as what he was saying in his text messages, my boyfriend told me to “just go ahead and quit.” Essentially, in a 9-5 position, this would be considered harrassment, and I detailed as such in the responses to his insane amount of texts. That didn't stop him.

I kept all communications professional, concise, and cordial- and the guy was arguing. It was clear in the way he wasn't truly responding to what I was saying, rather to one or two words I had said and sending me back-to-back texts cussing me out and using my own two words he gathered from my messages to “throw back in my face.”

At some point early this morning, he sent a rant and responded to my professional email with a screenshot text message and a 🤣 emoji. He said, “no cause she was gonna get fired anyway.” then sent another rant about how I magically owe the company $6300 for “damages I caused” —there is no signed paperwork indicating this as a potential risk factor, he has not provided proof of this “damage I caused,” and has not been professional in any of his messages.

With that said, I told him:

“Absolutely not.

I delivered correctly as per the instructions, and for that reason, I will not be taking responsibility for those medications.

I don't know who “she” is, but I will be blocking this number going forward.”

And blocked him. That felt GOOD!

I'm as broke as I was when I started with that joke of a company, but I'm happier. Hopefully DoorDash and my big goals works out. I can not keep working these abusive jobs.
