Hello everyone, I know we have talked about bosses changing punched hours, but I'm finding my self in a position where I'm actually having it happen to me and I need a little guidance from people who know what they are talking about.
Story: Sorry for the punctuation, I'm a terrible writer.
I work for a large company in Detroit. You probably know the one, but I'm not sure how many details to put here
Recently I was put under a new boss and had heard rumblings from others that he changes hours so I started taking pictures of my worked hours and my actual hours. Sure enough I find they are different.
Not by a lot, but totaling an hour or two a week.
I took this info to the section director and HR and was told they would look into it.
After a couple of days of not hearing anything I wrote them again a little more forcefully and told them I did not feel they were taking it seriously. After that the director added our section VP to the email chain. He responded that it had been looked into and they just forgot to add me to the response.
Later that day I was asked to join a meeting with HR and my director where we discussed the path forward. I was sent a form to fill out to get my lost wages. I asked them about the rest of the team that was under this boss and was told that the team members would need to submit their own complaints. I told them that I felt like they were hoping this would just go away and that they should be looking into all of the time cards approved by this leader. They told me they could not talk about other peoples business.
This is a boss who has been approving 10- 15 peoples time cards every week for 5 or 6 years. This could be literally be thousands of hours owed to employees.
I have been keeping all of the emails and pictures of everything on my personal cell, copies of the emails and recordings of the meetings.
I'm at the point where I'm considering contacting a lawyer, but just have no idea if I even have a case let alone what to look for, so any info you have would be great.
Thanks for listening and for any advice.
