I worked 4 hours and 46 minutes overtime last week. It’s not a lot but i was looking towards it in my paycheck the following week. I’m at work now and asked my boss where the overtime was and her response was that she doesn’t pay managers overtime because we aren’t on the books. I said the overtime came from me working an extra party (i work in a catering restaurant) on my day off and she tried to use the tip I received as leverage against why I didn’t get my pay.
If anyone knows the overtime laws better than me in New York please share because I’m not getting taken advantage of even more. I technically already work over 40 hours a week but i serve dinner and work as a manager so it’s two different hourly rates and i have two separate cards to clock in at. The week i got “overtime” was actually 52 hours total but again, two cards.
