My workplace (office environment and outwardly very professional) is super toxic. A lot of bullying, favouritism, and manipulation. One instance of (almost) physically assault and the assailant is still employed. Two instances of giving coworkers access to their coworkers email (no supervisory relationship just colleagues).
Yesterday, my coworker, who was a victim of blatant bullying and harassment, was let go. My boss has an office and didn’t bother to bring them in. My boss fired this person at their desk with other people around who can clearly hear what was said. Weirdly after it happened, my boss was really giddy and happy. Completely devoid of empathy and humanity.
Honestly I think the main reason my coworker was let go was because they reported the harassment. A lot of people seem to think that doesn’t happen anymore but almost every person I know who reported harassment has been let go within the year for some bullshit reason (this is anecdotal but it’s just a pattern I’ve noticed).
I need to get the fuck out of there asap.
PS sorry is this was jumbled. I’m still in shock over this whole ordeal.
