Yesterday I had a personal emergency and had to be 1 hour late. I have Flex Time, no children and I’m always on time, so I didn’t see an issue. Just so that nobody was searching for me, I wrote in our team chat that I would be in at 10:30 (gave myself an extra 30 min just in case). This isn’t out of the ordinary and has always been completely acceptable.
My boss writes to me 5 min later that she has to know in advance (emergency, sorry I didn’t know in advance) for any and all absences (it was not an absence) and has to know if I’ll be making up that time (it was ONE HOUR; I did it at the end of the day). I was so angry I wanted to quit right there and then.
I log in this morning to see a message from my boss in the team chat saying she would be in at 10 today! 🤣🤣 I’m laughing because this is like a sitcom, just absolutely ridiculous.
