I’m an independent contractor and my boss went on vacation for a week. During that week, I continued to do assistant duties. (It was small tasks, but it still took my time). After reminding them that they didn’t pay me yet, they finally sent me the payment. They text me “let’s get in a call at x”. I usually agree but I’ve learned that as an independent contractor you dictate your schedule. So I told them I wasn’t available and tomorrow at x is when I’m available. They agreed. But it had a condescending tone to it. Now they want to know the tasks that I did.
This is my first time as an independent contractor and doing taxes and I wasn’t expecting to pay good chunk of taxes.
