Boss has established “do not disturb” working hours

Hello. I'm a Ph.D. student and I work with other Ph.D. students in an office at the university. We are about 10 people sharing this office. Given that the office is a bit overcrowded, one of our supervisors wants to create a sort of “do not disturb” working hours, in which all kinds of social interactions should be limited to the minimum to not disturb other people working. There are some “breaks” in the day, in which is possible to talk freely, and “make noise” I must admit that I'm one of the loudest people, who loves chatting and socializing with colleagues. Hello. I'm a Ph.D. student and I work with other Ph.D. students in an office at the university.
We are about 10 people sharing this office.

Given that the office is a bit overcrowded, one of our supervisors wants to create a sort of “do not disturb” working hours, in which all kinds of social interactions should be limited to the minimum to not disturb other people working. There are some “breaks” in the day, in which is possible to talk freely, and “make noise”

I must admit that I'm one of the loudest people, who loves chatting and socializing with colleagues. For this reason, I have already limited the days I go there (it's 40 min commuting by car) to two. In this way, I not only prevent disturbing other people, but I also limit distractions to myself.

However, with this new policy, I do believe that going to the office is pointless, as we can effortlessly work from home, and the main reason to go to the office is to foster collaboration, communication, and team building. Moreover, I do believe that common sense should suggest a busy person, who doesn't want to be disturbed, work from home on that day.

Am I seeing this wrong? How can I peacefully oppose this without fighting with colleagues and supervisors who support this?

Thanks in advance.
