This happened a few years ago but thought it was super appropriate for this sub.
The owner of my company, Craig, was and continues to be a complete moron. He hired me for a position (community manager) that wasn’t what I applied for or interviewed for (regional property manager) making 65k. Once this got sorted out I took over the right position but continued to make the same amount of money for 15x the work. I had just started in a new city so there was only so much stink I was willing to raise about this. I had a community manager under me making 60k + $50 a lease so it was fully in her potential to make as much or more than me. She managed 3 buildings, I managed 12 with 10+ staff.
6 months in I had taken over several new buildings and Craig recruited a community manager from a portfolio we just lost for the new buildings. She was hired at 65k, plus $50/$100 per lease so was 10000% making more than me. After I complained about this he raised me to a pitiful 68k.
When it came time to receive bonuses in January (let’s say on the 10th) mine was PRORATED as I started January 21st. I promptly started looking for jobs and used my PTO until my last day. My new position hired me for 120k.
If your boss sucks ass like Craig, leave. Someone else will appreciate you.
