Boss immediately denied my (F22) request off to celebrate Valentines Day with my partner (M26)

So here’s the thing- I have 40 hours of unused PTO. At the beginning of the week I put in a time off request for one day 3 weeks in advance. A few minutes later I receive an email from my boss asking if it was an urgent matter I take that day off and that if it wasn’t for an emergency it would be denied because this month and next month is the company’s “busy season”. I told her that my partner was wanting to book a cabin for that weekend to celebrate Valentine’s Day (it would be the first time we actually went somewhere instead of staying at home so the thought was exciting). She told me she hopes we can find a different time to celebrate and she’s sorry my plans have to change.. well I still don’t know if we’ll end up going anywhere for valentines…

Now here’s my issue:

I’ve been working at the company for 6 months. I’ve never, ever been late, I’ve only had one work day off and that was for an emergency and my boss still acted annoyed when I told her in advance I would need a day off within the next week to deal with the situation and I was still pressured to come in that day as soon as it was done.

I have coworkers who are late everyday, leave early and take days off at least once a week. We are short staffed so I am the only person in my office that can help customers so I work through my lunch break most days and stay late most days. So I’m working 9-10+ hours a day and still I can’t even get one day off when I request it. I understand it’s the “busy season” but Jesus can’t I just enjoy one day off? Why give me PTO when I can’t even use it.
