Boss is attempting to deny me my requested days by delaying work. What do I do?

Last week on Wednesday, I informed my boss that I’d be taking 4/13 and 4/14 off. I submit the request and he informed me that “I will not approve those days until you finish X.” So, I worked Sunday and finished yesterday evening. It’s now Tuesday, I am expecting tomorrow off (I have an interview because I want to leave this place anyway) so I have to be off. My boss made a total of 4 changes already that required me to redo everything, and he’s currently working on his fifth. Now my boss is talking to the CEO about making a change that would require 5-7 more hours of work from me. The CEO, yesterday, assured me that there would be no change. So, I worked Sunday and finished yesterday evening.

He is currently agreeing with the idea of making a change.

Yesterday evening, before I left (an hour late), I asked “Will you be approving my days now that X is done? I have personal business I need to tend to.”

To which he replied, “We need X done. I’ll talk to you late tomorrow. I’ll cover for you.”

  1. I do not need my work to be “covered” seeing as I finished it prior to him deciding to make a new change that we had already agreed would just be an explanation item.
  2. He never explicitly stated whether he’d approve the days or not and I worry that he’s going to come back and complain that he never approved the days so I shouldn’t have taken them.

I fully intend on taking the days one way or the other.

What do I do? Should I worry that I’m going to be written up? Should I explain the situation to HR?
