Boss offered me a work related course online but wants other people to attend without the school knowing.

My boss offer me a work-related course that is around $2,500 per semester for one year and I accepted it. The course is online in the evenings Monday through Thursday 6-9pm. This morning he told me he would like for three other people in the company to attend but without the school knowing. He said he’s done it before and nothing happened. I told him I was uncomfortable with the idea and would rather not take the class. He then said ok he will buy the course only for me. Is this something that other people have gotten away with at other companies? There will be assignment, in-class discussions, group work, I don’t know how that would work with three other people in the room not participating.
