Today my boss offered me a promotion that we have been talking about for about 2-3 years now. 10% is what he offered. I am going to counter with 20%? I think I should ask for more though, as I have been a top performer for the past 2-3 years now, exceeding expectations at every review consistently.
I am a field service tech that has only been doing the job for 6 years going on 7 now. Most of my peers have 15-25 years of “experience”. The promotion would be to a 2nd team lead (assistant) for the area I work in. Even with the 10% increase in pay I would not be making the same as some of the older techs.
How do I get more than a 20% raise? Like 20% is just enough for me to consider becoming a team lead. I am very comfortable where I am. I don't want to take on the responsibility for a paltry 10%, but the boss man doesn't seem to get it. He literally asked me 2 weeks ago if I would only be interested in taking the position, just for the money. Now I get a 10% offer. Like FUCK OFF. Sad part is with my job, the harder I try to do less work and milk the clock, my productivity numbers are getting better. So I guess I will keep looking at reddit for 4-6 hours a day. đ Good luck to all those who are underpaid. The only way is to literally find a new job/company every 3 years. DON'T LET ANYONE TELL YOU OTHERWISE…. unless you actually find a company who cares about retaining their best workers. Thanks for any advice on how to not scream at my boss give me more money asshole.
