Boss offered pay rise for good performance, 6 months later says i won’t be getting one. I earn 1k a month. How should I approach this?

I’m in my mid 20s, live in the capital and I work remotely and earn just over £1,000 a month. I’m the sole earner in my household and so It’s been really hard receiving this news today after a hard year. Long story short, I did well with a launch for the company i work for (social media management), and my boss said that after new years we can discuss pay and everything along those lines to see if i’m happy. Fast forward to chasing my boss for 6 months, i get an email stating that my pay is adequate for what i do and with the hours i have, that they’re happy with our current arrangement and there’s no opportunity for me to take on more responsibilities. My boss offered to call to discuss it more. Does anyone have any advice for how I should approach my boss? Or…

Does anyone have any advice for how I should approach my boss? Or any resources for remote work? (I’m in the UK)

My current plan is to continue this job with minimal effort and use all the free time I have to continue studying marketing and social media management with online resources like HubSpot and Google Analytics, and then test what I learn on my own creative pursuits so that eventually, I can start my own business managing the social media of creative content creators and influencers.

I really feel like I’ve been made a fool of and I know I won’t move up in a job like this. I can’t quit because my family and disabled grandma depend on me. (if you want the full sob story check my post history.)

Ideally the sooner I can leave the better, so I can earn an actual liveable wage and take care of my family better. Any help or advice is really appreciated. I’m learning to adult on my own.

Thanks in advance!
