Boss says she “doesn’t pay me to sit in my car” after I show up 10 minutes early and wait 40 minutes for someone to come unlock the door.

This just happened this morning. For clarification, I work at a law firm. I'm supposed to show up at 8:30, but it's payday today so I show up 10 minutes early to pick up and review my check. There was supposed to be someone at the office already to let me in, but when I get here, the parking lot was empty and the doors were locked. No biggie right? I'll just sit in my car and wait. After about 30 minutes of waiting for someone to show up, I shoot my boss a text asking if the office was opening late (it is the day after Christmas after all). She doesn't answer but shows up 10 minutes later, letting me in. After we get settled in I told her I'd just write down what time I got here on my punch card. She proceeded to tell me “I don't…

Am I in the wrong here? I wasted 40 minutes of my morning sitting and waiting for my boss, and I'm not even getting paid for it??

At least I got paid for Christmas.
