Boss thinks I’m taking advantage of my free time…

I’ve been to the hospital 4 times in the last year, requiring 2 surgeries. 1 of those was life saving. Got a call from my boss the other day saying he thinks I take too much advantage of my free time and that my attitude has changed since the surgeries. He mentioned that “others” have said noticed my attitude change. This is coming up because recently at the office I expressed my “attitude” towards life by saying I don’t care that much about day to day things. This phone call came on Wednesday after I had an accident on Monday that sent me to the ER with a dislocated shoulder and torn ligaments. I used my PTO to cover the time I spent not working. Not sure where any of my boss’s complaints came from, since I’ve always been a great employee, aside from the time spent fighting for my life. And I especially don’t appreciate my medical issues and attitude on life being discussed between my boss and “others” at the company.
