This is just a vent/rant. You can see my post history for a few more details.
Anyway I used to work remote from a company in Louisiana and I work from
California.
Anyway I was terminated because they caught me on Indeed and they tried to hold my paycheck hostage until I return their crappy computer. I sent an email explaining that is not legal.
I had to argue with them for a week to get a shipping label because they wanted me to pay $219 to send it back. They insisted that I pay shipping AND wanted it insured for $2,000 No way this thing is worth more than $200. The shipping label alone probably cost nearly as much as the equipment itself.
Today, for the fourth time, I sent an email to the owner asking about my final paycheck. I had not heard a peep from him on this whole matter.
Today he sends me a full blown legal threat because he feels I’m keeping his computer. Omg. I just got the shipping label 2 business days ago.
He ends his legal threat with, “I trust you’ll do the right thing”. At this point no further communication. But the audacity! I left 2 weeks ago and I still haven’t been paid. He said he is 150% willing to go to court You owe me more than the computer is worth! This did not have to be this difficult!
Whatever I’m returning the equipment in the morning but this is probably the pettiest “professional” interaction I’ve ever had.
Vent over lol
