So as the title says, my manager has threatened to fire me if I don’t come in for a shift that I had requested off 5 weeks ago. Can they do this???
For more context I asked for next Friday off to go to my little sisters musical performance. This is a really important event for me to attend and something my sister has worked so hard for. Last week my boss put out our monthly schedules and guess who was on the schedule for Friday… Me! When I reminded my boss I asked for that time off 5 weeks ago they said “well a lot of people want 3 day weekends and I can’t change the schedule” when I protested this my boss reminded me of the company policy that if you “no show” a scheduled shift it’s grounds for termination. I can’t afford to lose this job as I’m already paycheck to paycheck but I also need to go to this recital, it is extremely important to me. WHAT DO I DO???
