Boss took tip money for a mistake

Not my boss… but imagine how shitty it must be to work at this place if this happened out in the open. ​ I walked into a smoothie shop to purchase a drink. A manager was holding up two 50 dollar bills and said they were fake. He asked the two employees behind the counter preparing drinks who took the bills. They both said neither took them. He said “you're both here… somebody had to take these! They're fake!” The two employees continued working and exhibited body language that reminded me of an someone just trying to ignore/tune out an abuser. The manager then said something to another man, low enough that the employees could not hear, but I could since I was by the register waiting to order while this all happened. He grabbed the tip jar and said “We'll get the money back. Right from this.” ​ I…

I will not go into this establishment again.

When I worked in retail years ago during college, I accidentally took a 20 dollar bill. My boss at the time said “eh, no matter. It happens.” and we moved on. I get it this is a small shop and not a chain, but you'll make the damn money back.
