As a teen my first job was as a delivery driver. I actually enjoyed it quite a lot, and it was a job that had a lot of freedom.
Anyways, I had a few managers, and one of them whenever I would work during his shift, if we got a huge tipper then he would say “Oh when the tip is this big or if it's for an important person I have to take it”
I honestly didn't question it much, it was super annoying though to get all excited about the huge tip I was gonna get only for my manager to take it. But I did find it suspicious that when other managers were there that I could take the large tips. Then I learned the fact that managers aren't actually allowed to leave the store at all.
We got a delivery that had a 400 dollar tip and was a massive order for a baseball team that had come to town to play. I had to make the entire very large order myself while my manager did fuck all and then my manager was telling me he has to take it. So he went, and while he did that I pulled up the delivery logs on the computer, took photos and got as much proof as possible that he had been taking my deliveries that had good tips.
Then I waited until the next shift, and talked to the head manager about it. He was actually a really cool dude and I loved shifts with him. He said that he should not be taking my deliveries and that is definitely not allowed. He also said that if it is true that they would give me the tips for each of the incidences where he stole my deliveries.
Well a few days later they figured out he had been stealing the deliveries, they fired his ass and gave me a check for about a 1,000 dollars. Really a great lesson in my youth about how you really need to stand up for yourself, nobody else will do it for you.
