Bosses (60’s M&F) told me I (21F) need to confirm dates with them for stuff before I book?

I’ll explain more: I work for a small business PART TIME. You read that right: PART time not FULL time. I work 30 hours a week (4 9-5 shifts with 30 minute lunches) Over my year of being here, lots of people have come and gone, but yet I stayed. I have taken on a lot of responsibility despite being a 21 year old student. I practically am the manager. I’m the right hand woman for my bosses and the other stuff will ask me questions first if they don’t know anything. I’ve taken little trips here and there, always giving SUPER big advances due to it being a small business, I never want an issue for simply having time off. I never call in sick, I’m a very f*cking great employee I would say. And I mentioned to my bosses that I would be taking a week vacation around…

And I mentioned to my bosses that I would be taking a week vacation around the time of possibly May or early Junes. Ahem, ahem, 3-4 months away! I don’t even have dates picked yet but I didn’t want anything to bite me in the a$$.

They were like “oh well before you plan stuff and buy anything you need to check with us to make sure the dates are always okay.” Their tone threw me off. Which I mean I guess I can kinda understand (telling me I need to check with them) but at the same time, I’m literally giving you a 3-4 month NOTICE. Usually at a corporate job, it’s like, you can get away with that sh!t with a 2 WEEK notice.

They’re going away for 10 days at the end of May, so I completely get that! Great, I won’t book for that day so I can run your business for u without any kind of extra pay, but then they kept trying to push for me to go the week of July 4th cause we’ll be closed that week anyways…and it pissed me off because I’m going with my bf as well who already has a hard time getting time off with his job. I’m gonna go on my vacation when I go on my vacation my life doesn’t revolve around you and your business. Im a part time student whose literally leaving towards the end of the year anyways.

Am I being overdramatic? What would y’all do in this situation?

Also when my boss found out I was planning on going to another country, he kept telling me how expensive it would be and everything which made me angrier because yes ofc I know it’s gonna be expensive but I’ve never been to another country and you’re trying to bring me down by being selfish and only thinking about your company when you claim to care about your employees
