Broke My Leg Outside of Work Fired Less Than Two Weeks Later

Hello Everyone, I have to get my story out there not only to heal but show everyone never trust your employer. Two weeks ago I was outside with my dog and slipped and fell in the mud. Shattered my leg with both my Tibia and Fibula broken in multiple places requiring surgery. My surgery was today and yesterday I received a call from HR informing me that I was being let go. Hello Everyone,

I have to get my story out there not only to heal but show everyone never trust your employer. Two weeks ago I was outside with my dog and slipped and fell in the mud. Shattered my leg with both my Tibia and Fibula broken in multiple places requiring surgery. My surgery was today and yesterday I received a call from HR informing me that I was being let go.

I was hired in July of 21’ to head up the new companies e-commerce presence and manage an eBay store which I created. I did this with great success, with the account achieving top rated status on the platform in under 4 months. My job performance reviews were exemplary and I was even up for a raise in the following weeks.

Leading up to my firing I had no inclination of anything like this even in the works. I spoke with my boss the previous day and a return to work was discussed along with the future direction of our company.

Fast forward to yesterday and I receive a call from someone in HR at 4:30 in the afternoon (day before surgery) that I was being let go effective immediately. No reasons. No explanation. Nothing. “We decided to move in a different direction is what kept being repeated” I hung up after it was said for a second and third time.

My boss who I developed what I thought to be was an excellent working and somewhat personal relationship has not said one word to me. Through texts and calls to his work/personal email they went unanswered.

I am so incredibly hurt and crushed by this situation it’s hard to even put into words. I put so much work into using my expertise to create something I was very proud of. Trust no employer. Ever. They will shake your hand while the other hand twists the knife into your back.
