Had my families Christmas celebration this past Saturday and I (28) was talking to my aunt (73) who I hadn’t seen in almost 3 years.
A lot of shit has happened in my life in the past 3 years (let go in Dec 2019, let go Nov 2020, went back to school between 2021-2022) and I just started a new job in November (that has turned out to be a total shit show). So at this point I’m honestly just exhausted and don’t know what to do with my life/career.
We were talking about work and she mentioned she was so glad I’m not just going to quit because she’s heard that’s been costing companies a lot of money! She said employers “take risks” on these young employees, get them trained and then they turn around and quit! Honestly why is the older generation so out of touch with reality.
It’s infuriating that this is the narrative Fox News (her only news source) has about young workers. I didn’t even tell her I did quit a job I started in October after 1 month bc there was no training and the job was very different than what I interviewed for.
