I work in front of a Pizza oven. All day I'm hot and sweating, moving quick, and fighting dehydration. I make minimum wage, and won't be getting a Christmas bonus.
Was basically peer pressured into wearing a hat by the owner along with the rest of the staff (that work in much more temperature controlled parts of the restaurant). All week long they want me to wear it, so today when I was supposed to go in, I got a “stomach virus” and won't be in for a few days.
I feel like this is fucked up on several levels, bc even though I was raised Christian, I don't observe. Having the observance of a Holiday forced on me, last time I checked, is fucking illegal. Not to mention 0 considerations for a comfortable and ergonomic work environment…
Anyways, glad to be out doing Doordash deliveries, (earning crap for it), but still making more than I would at the restaurant, while also not being treated like someone's clown.
Small business owners. They can be saints, but more often, bastards.
