Callous boss

Texted my manager in the morning a couple of hours before work: “Hey mate My dad went into hospital and I need to go see him. Won’t be at work today. I’m sorry.” His response 12 hours later: “Hey mate, hope your dad is ok, im hoping you will be at work tomorrow as we got absolutely destroyed today. Thank you” Am I wrong in thinking what he sent was cold/callous/dickish? Almost feels like he is saying me missing work due to my family is poor form. I came to work the next day, and worked 20 minutes after my shift time ended to help out, as we were busy. My dad is still not better. Not one thank you from him. I asked him to just finish up the work I did (would of taken him 1 minute to do) and his response was: “You can’t do it?” complete…

“You can’t do it?” complete with a condescending look. I topped the store for sales today and nothing about that either. I hate this. Am I wrong? Am I overreacting?
