Came down with Epstein Barr as an adult and it caused me to miss about a week of work. Instead of getting any sick pay, my manager recommended I go to the local food bank if I can’t make ends meet.

I was pretty taken back so I just said “thanks for the tip” but this has just made me feel like they really don’t have a clue. Like, I’ll be fine running with a thin wallet for a week… it just made me realize how fucking stupid work culture has become…like I get sick and unable to work by no fault of my own, I lose a week of pay, incur about $500 in hospital bills, and feel like I put my job in jeopardy… and apparently my boss thinks I am a broke ass with zero money management skills… I cannot sleep right now because of this middle of the night realization.
