Can a previous write up keep you from getting a job at the same employer?

Idk shit about this so hopefully I can get some answers. I got written up a few years ago shortly after covid had started. Long story short, my old boss hated me, wanted me gone and then wrote me up for some bs. Before covid, I had a job where I was “supposed to” go into the office a couple times a week to meet with bankers and clients. It wasn’t mandatory to go in to the office as I could pretty much work from anywhere. Once covid started, senior leadership told us to work remote until further notice. When she asked why I wasn’t going in, I told her my wife is an ICU nurse and had a bunch of covid…

Well, my boss wrote me up for not going into the office as much as she wanted me to (Even though senior leadership had told us not to). When she asked why I wasn’t going in, I told her my wife is an ICU nurse and had a bunch of covid patients. I wasn’t going to go into the office and get all of my coworkers and clients sick and risk their and their families health. Nonetheless, she wrote me up for it, got HR involved. It was a whole mess.

Shortly after, I started a new job which I have been doing for two years now. Recently, I have applied internally for jobs I’m qualified for but can’t even get a call back. My question is, can that previous write-up screw me over for jobs I’m applying for?

I know nothing is a guarantee, but I’m just curious. For those wondering, the reason I got my current job is because I knew the hiring manager.

Appreciate any feedback at all.
