I work in an industry that is garbage to begin with. My boss is notoriously cheap and unprofessional, and you have to titty-twist to get a raise.
I have always been a pretty hard worker, and have reaped the rewards of that (more work, yay!). But I've learned my lesson.
In my 30s now, and with an 18 month old. WFH since COVID and will be going forward (boss already agreed to this and will receive the nastiest response if he tries to backpeddle).
The company is maddeningly disorganized, and everyone is so overworked, to the point that nobody checks up on anything. I'm paid salary, and I do my work, so here's the brag:
I've made use of the tools available to me so that I work VERY little. A 20 year old me would have found more work to do and improved things and taken on extra projects. But now? I take my kid out for walks, lunch, to the park. I clean my home. I waste time on social. I read.
