So im contracted tech support for a moderately sized company, and had a manager contact me this morning, practically frothing at the mouth.
His employee was DOWN, and we were losing money and sales with him idle. Fix it NOW.
Yeah I get it, as the low man on the IT totem pole I'm used to being looked at as “the help”. People only call IT when there's a problem so they're usually unhappy. I just let it roll off lf my back, part of the job.
I call and find out the guy is IN HOSPITAL. I didn't ask why, not my place. Maybe it's not serious and he just wants to work. (LOL at that already) but I'm assuming he was either coerced or brainwashed into believing his job is so important. We'Re LoSiNg SaLeS.
It really rubbed me the wrong way. Best believe if I'm in hospital myself or if I'm there for a loved one, my work is 1000% on hold. /endrant
