So. We need money to live. To get a house, have kids, provide for our family, and to get nice things/save up.
Right now I'm pretty blessed to be getting 20 an hour. Where I live it's not a lot by any means, but for what I do for work, it's decent. So I'm not in a HUGE hurry to make more money, but I do plan to get a house next year (I'm getting married.)
Only experience I have is driving box trucks and some customer service. Had some experience being a fedex driver, worked at a warehouse for a bit… I fill vending machines for work currently, helluva lot better than FedEx. My knees were about to disintegrate after just 3 months Still not good for my body, especially the sitting in a truck.
Anyways! What are some good paying jobs that don't require 50 hours+ a week? Or 4 years of college and tons of debt? While I'm not in a hurry, also can't afford to waste time on college.
I was thinking of a few options:
1. Buy my own vending route, becoming a small business owner. Wouldn't be very profitable at first and it would cost me quite a lot. Not the best option right now.
2. Get a real estate license and become a realtor. It's cheap to do and pretty fast. Think I could get a license in just a month or two's time. I'd assume the hours aren't too bad. And it'd be real easy on my body compared to what I do now. Income is unsteady but if I'm in a good enough area I'm sure I could make 50k+ a year. Don't think I'd hate the job. I like people. I like architecture, and I like numbers.
3. Get into a trade. Shit pay off the bat, terrible hours. Would take a year to make the 20 an hour I'm getting now, probably. Years before I'm making really good money. Hours would probably be shit still though.
I'm leaning towards number 2. But curious what you guys think. I know this isn't a great page for job advice but I figure you guys would have pretty good ideas of how to escape the “I'm working 8-4 every day for peanuts, I'm dreading work tomorrow,” kinda life.
