I haven't even started my new job yet and I just received an update telling me that my start date has been pushed back, I'll be starting 1 week later 5 paid days off, not taken out of my holiday just because the manager wanted me to have some time off before starting. The message just said it was going to be an intense first 2 weeks so have a good break before my first day. Along with the email there was a voucher for a local spa treatment to be booked anytime during the week off. It's part of a welcome pack that everyone gets. The whole attitude and mentality sounds too good to be true, I just hope it's the same after I've started working there.

Im in the United States. So where I work there are no benefits except health insurance which is way too expensive so it's not a benefit for me. I only get 1 week of vacation time and my sick time and vacation time are rolled into one so if I call out sick it takes away from my vacation time. I'll be here 2 years in November so I'll have 2 weeks of time then but that's the most you ever get working here. Is that normal? I feel like im so tired and burnt out from never having any personal time. I am currently a student in college at 30 years old but I graduate in December. I hope to get a good job in software engineering when I graduate. Hopefully I can get a job that has good benefits and more time off because I'm so exhausted and…

My boss has been trying to get people to come back into the office lately. Today, while on a work-related call, I had to lock my dogs out of my room because they were chasing each other. My boss commented that that must be distracting and therefore reduce my productivity. I countered with the fact that my dogs make me happy which increases my productivity. I get more done at home than in the office. He said that he's found that miserable people are more productive which is why people should come into the office. Just what? How miserable must he be to think this? Does he want everyone else to be just as miserable as him? Honestly, the company is good, and generally, he's a decent boss. I walked out of my job yesterday with no warning. You guys think its going to hurt my chances finding another job?

I work as an electrician, in general, I enjoy my job. But it is endlessly discouraging when I get sent to work for wealthier customers. All, with the exception of a few, have been absolutely insufferable, vapid, and shallow people with no respect for labor and the skill that comes with any form of labor.At any point in these mansions and large luxury homes, I and my fellow workers are the most skilled and competent people in the building. Yet these homeowners treat us like we are dumb animals. I've had a customer recently who lives in a mini-mansion on a lake with fancy boats and multiple garages for their surplus of cars complain about service rates and try to refuse me payment because 'all I did was change lightbulbs'. My supervisor is insanely incompetent and I could make a massive post about all of the crazy shit they've done in the past 6 months I've worked here, but I dont have that kind of time. So long story short, this time my boss says that all of the vacation days were approved except for saturdays. And that I have to find someone to take my saturday… in 5 months. I gave notice in febuary that I would be going on vacation in june, I feel like thats plenty of notice to schedual a replacement. I want to preface this with saying that my boss has a set schedual for everyone, specific cookie cutter days and times every week, forever.
