But after making crazy amount of it then it just regular and does not give you the satasfaction anymore. And then it just feels normal, so money does definetly give you happiness in some ways and make your life easier by you not having ever worrying about money. But other than that it does not guarentee that same happiness through your entire life.

Some background context: I am currently employed at a mind numbingly large insurance carrier in a call center style role. As such, my schedule is incredibly regimented down to the minute with very little flexibility. I have no power over my schedule and any changes need to be approved through my manager (I served four years on active duty in the army with more flexibility than I currently have). I'm talking full Orwell big brother stuff: tiny cubicles, my screens and calls are recorded all day, and I have different time codes that I need to constantly be entering in and out of throughout the day according to my schedule whether it be taking calls, breaks, lunch times e.t.c. Here's the good news: my wife and I recently found out we are expecting and are thrilled but we also know I need to find a job that makes more money…
For example: I always take an extra 10ish minutes on my lunch break when possible, go to the bathroom twice as many times as I actually have to go, and steal the good sharpies
I’m a 32 year old licensed realtor, newly licensed but with 2 deals under my belt as well as a very experienced mentor (so I have plenty of guidance.) I’m also applying for a content writing position regarding real estate, so tonight I’m writing a sample piece on selling your house. I still live under the poverty line and spent my 20s also poor and my later 20s in a desperate state of not having money. My mother wants to sell her house, she told me she wants to sell it herself. Her “lawyer will help her.” Or she’s going to use another realtor. Give that commission to another realtor, another family. It’s not reasonable. She cannot understand any of the advice I give, nor is she interested in supporting my career. She has no idea how to get the most for the house. It’s honestly extremely hurtful and makes…
Aw man bummer :/
Sucks getting home really late knowing you have to wake up really early for work. That’s all
I work a unique role for a healthcare system. I work 1/2 in clinic and 1/2 as an outreach provider. Have been essentially begging for a raise since I started there 3.5 years ago. I was fresh out of school and didn’t realize how little I was making compared to the state average for my credentials. Needless to say that raise never really came. I have gone up 30 cents since I started, working through the pandemic the entire time. I brought up how short I was compared to the state average at my last review and they pretty much said the system has a set limit of up to 1% per year based on performance. (Gave me the whole “we don’t give 5/5’s for grades and we have a set number of 4/5’s that we can give” bs) Overall the payroll and HR is a nightmare the they go…
They’re having record profits though and because they see inflation is up, they’re giving us a 1% bonus of the wages we make in a year. (Because they “care”.) So, I’ll be getting $470. This will be the third year of not getting a COL increase.
Contributed to national teacher shortage
My wife is a teacher in a private school. A college degree and relevant experience are required to work at such a school as a teacher, that part makes sense and is reasonable. The school has plenty of students and a couple of buildings, in another word, financially strong. But the pay is just a few dimes more than the market price of babysitters in our area, which required no degree nor experience. As we are fully aware the above situation is not fair, she decided to play along because at least she has something to do and some income, better than nothing. Then one day their school admins pulled her aside, gave her a write-up of a long list of improvements and policy clarifications, etc. Basically complaining she's not doing her job well. As long as she showed me the list, I told her to resign from her position.…
Dealerships are very toxic
I’m an apprentice mechanic, being that, half my job involved helping the full red seals and cleaning the shop. I am perfectly fine doing this. However there are some mechanics that live for money, they start hours early and stay hours late, also fine. But when those mechanics start rubbing that off to the barely-above-minimum-wage apprentices, then it becomes very toxic. Just today for example, I had a long day at work, lots of cleaning and oil changed/tire changeovers, it’s now 4:30, I’m now off work. As I’m leaving I hear one of the mechanic yell at me that the oil containers are full and that I should empty them. Fuck that I think, Me: “it’s 4:30” Him: “no it’s not” Me: looking down at my computer “yeah it’s 4:32” Him: “gooood effort” Okay whatever, happens all the time, I go clean up my tool bench and head up to…
