Im a DSP

DSP (Direct Support Professional) I work with children that often have special needs, a trauma history, or both. I have lost track of how many times my employers have given me gift cards or raffle tickets instead of a raise despite working myself to burn out, in a job that is emotionally and mentally draining. We need to strike. We are grossly underpaid, we are “essential” workers but we are treated as disposable. I am trying to get into grad school pretty much for the sole purpose of increasing my revenue stream so I dont starve.
