I was fired for defending a manager who was also fired. After most of the staff left in retaliation the owners wife came looking for me at the bar next door with her mace in hand. Luckily I had already left but I really wish she would have done it so I could have pressed charges.

Long story short, I’m a videographer that was sent out with a smaller team within our company to a different state for a client shoot. It was three days in a row of roughly 14 hour shoot days, with a 5:45am call time and ending after 7. The client decided to book a dinner with the team every. single. night. of our stay. We were told by our office manager that if we didn’t feel well, to stay at the hotel and take care of ourselves if we can’t make the dinner. Our travel day was fucked, but I went to dinner that first night despite feeling really gross. The second night, I requested to not attend the dinner. It wasn’t mandatory, but there was continuous pressure it was “important for everyone to be there.” Keep in mind, I’m a junior videographer. My seniors told me multiple times it’d be…
Transparency here I live on my own in an expensive city. Make $14 an hr. Been working for this company almost 3 years. For the last 7 months I’ve been told I was going to get a raise. I’ve become a manager at this point and have a new set of responsibilities since the first convo of a raise. Well three days ago by top boss gives me call says cool your getting the raise and it’s impressive. I’m honestly at this point jsut praying I get that one more dollar I’ve been waiting on. Today I got my check. No raise. But my antidepressants went up and my food has been going up so now I’m out of groceries soon my meds and feel like I’ve been running in circles for yet another company that would toss me in the trash without a moments thought. I don’t know where…
Prices at our store going up
Can’t wait to get my raise! Because obviously they’re going to use the extra profit to give back to the people that, ya know, MAKE THE MONEY! Or maybe the price changes are to adjust for inflation… oh then our wages should probably rise with inflation too.. Lolli & Pops is already way overpriced. I quit and came back as a Shift Lead and am making ONE DOLLAR over minimum wage despite being in a leadership role AND not having to be trained since I came back. I never received a performance based raise the 2 years I worked there. The people I know who did stay got PENNIES and I think make 10-50 more CENTS than I do. A YouTuber came in and we comped her $1300 worth of stuff. 2 of my paychecks. But they “can’t afford” to pay us more. I’m so sick of corporate greed
I put in my two weeks notice and have only ever worked remotely. My employer was happy I was staying on to help train my replacement, but are demanding I commute into the office (at least an hour each way) because they “don’t have enough computers” and I’ll need to share with the new hire, thus making us unable to work remotely.
I started a new job as a customer service representative in May of 2020 right after graduation. I was super excited because a friend of mine had been there for a few years and she loved it. She had been promoted a few times and had great leadership. It was the worst job I’ve ever had in my life. It was when the stock market was insanely unpredictable and people were calling in all the time. I was told there would be chances for training and I would be able to meet with my manager to talk about advancement opportunities. That never happened. And the callers were mean. I cried all the time because the callers were blaming us for their investments losing money. They would call me stupid and yell at me for the wait times. Some of the old men would hit on me. The company would never…

One of the qualities I admire about my ex is he didn't put up with shit when he felt like he was being taken advantage of. One day a few years ago he came home and told me about the staff meeting his company had held that day. The managers had passed around a picture of a worker bending over while the management kicked them in the rear. They were trying to make some point, in the most condescending way possible, about how the staff needed to work harder. My ex immediately stood up, crumpled said paper, and tossed it in the trash, making it clear he was disgusted by it. Totally changed the tone of the meeting. At the time I was horrified by his open outrage toward his superiors. Now I'm pretty sure I would do the same thing.
In 1964 minimum wage was $1.25. The last year the govt minted 90% silver coins was 1964. In that year 5 silver quarters equaled 1 oz of silver or about $1.25 … What are five 1964 silver quarters worth today? About $24.00 Minimum wage should be at least $24 if kept up with inflation. edit: silver quarter value at https://www.coinflation.com/coins/1932-1964-Silver-Washington-Quarter-Value.html
Don’t put in half the effort. Make them realize what they saw in the beginning of the pandemic, that employees are capable of getting work done from home.
