Management fucked up and accepted a project from a client for me that's running at the same time as another I'm currently working on. I will have to take 2 weeks out of the current project to work on the new one which will obviously set back the current one.
So I'm already pissed about that because it's going to be huge pressure to get the project done in 2 weeks and not delay the other one even further.
Fast forward a few weeks of me being pissed and then I got the news that in July I'm expected to go to the customer site for 2 days to do the installation for the new project. I have holidays booked during the days of the installation, I'm going home to visit family in my home country and I booked the time off with the company since April and booked the flights as well. I told manager J as soon as the client told us the installation dates that I had holidays booked and he said he would see what he can do to get the dates pushed back.
Finally this week I get called in by HR accusing me of not telling anyone about my holidays during the project dates and that it only came to light during a meeting the previous day where upper management were checking the holiday calendar and they noticed it?? I'm not sure if my J has amnesia or not but I definitely told him as soon as I got given the dates. I HATE getting accused of something I didn't do especially with this project because the planning has been stupid bad anyway.
They asked if I could be flexible about changing my holiday and I said not really since the flights are booked (plus I requested the holidays 4 months in advance so it's not my fault!). They said they're going to try get the client to change the dates but made it seem like if it wasn't possible that I would be expected to give up my holidays since they could potentially lose the project and the client (since this is the only current project we have with them and I'm the only one certified to work on their site).
I'm thinking if they ask me to give up my holidays for the project I'll just give my notice. I've been quietly keeping an eye out for other jobs for a while and I know I'll have no problem getting picked up by another company. I'm tired of the bullshit and I'm not fucking around
