Changing the perspective of work.

Saw this post that with automatisation, we shouldn't all be working an we're changing perspective. But most of it is rubbish that is endoctrinated in us. A lot of things can't be automized. And those jobs are just outsourced in poor countries, that have to work their ass off for us to keep having our western lifestyles. The problem isn't work. Work is good for us. It gives us purpose. A sense of achievement. It also keeps us healthy. The problem is the scale of it. When you work for corporations so big you never even know who your boss is. The problem is hierarchy. It is abuse. It is mass industrialisation and the loss of all real trades. Here's an example : stonemasonry. It is a complex craft. That asks advanced 3D vision and understanding.
Knowing how to make a proper mortar depending on weather, type of stone, etc… Knowing which stones to use where. It is something that can take an entire life to learn. Where elders aren't dismissed but listened to. It is a craft that asks a dozen of different trades to be done properly. And each of these trades are really fulfilling to do. We have changed all this for one trade : bricklaying. Which is the most boring and stupid trade ever. It's litterally just laying bricks. Anyone can do it and anyone will be depressed after a few years of doing it because it asks no inventivity, ingeniuty or real understanding. It's just repetitive and dull. This has been done with all trades.

Every year, millions of young people will get out of styling schools. People that back in the day would be tailors. A complex and interesting job. What will they do for most of them except a very few that will actually work as top stylists? Work in retail for some big firm. Selling cheap clothing made in bangladesh.

This is what we need to revolt against. Not work, but this globalised system that killed all personal development. Where one finds their trade and can spend their life perfecting it. And this doesn't mean you have to work 8h a day, 5 days a week. Sometimes business is booming. Sometimes it is slower. But when you find what you really love, putting in the time to do it properly is a pleasure, not a restriction.
