I for one welcome any advancement that gives humanity a leg up. The ATM changed banking, AI has made some aspects of our lives much easier, and I personally do like the idea of an algorithm being more suited to my needs.
However, I am afraid about what work is gonna look like long term. What jobs will be left unaffected by Chat GPT and who the hell is actually gonna work or even be able to pay taxes which funds everything. Technology often comes at society faster than law makers and the ruling class realizes.
I like the idea that chat gpt could do essays and coding. Yet, I have to concede I am afraid. What do we humans doing? I'm leery of programs like universal basic income. Largely because of the scarcity of housing and how government will take advantage of UBI and still leave the people homeless because they'd rather serve their slumlord donors.
Do I want to see chat gpt flourish? Sure, but not just to enrich the already rich. I wouldn't mind a future where no one had to work if chat gpt and other such programs did the work so the rest of us can relax all day. I'm not going in one direction or the other, but I'm curious to see what everyone else here thinks.
