ChatGPT was released and it “threatens” my profession, inter alia, programmers and computer scientists.

It appears that we are on a fast track to automise the arts and knowledge work, skills like programming may become obsolete soon. At least that’s what ChatGPT and other models strongly suggest. The discussion I experience evolves around who will become obsolete next. Why is it that people are scared when we (as humans) make a step towards engineering away another profession.
