So its that time of year, and after a few years hiatus my work is throwing a Christmas Party. I have not attended one at this company as I started after last Christmas, but nonetheless- the Christmas Party nonsense has begun!!!
It started with an email at the end of November. That we were having a Christmas Party. They said more details would follow. Spoiler alert. They never followed? So here we are, the night before the party. I ask what time it's at because, well, no one ever told us. It's at 5. I'm off at 5.
I say I'm off at 5, they say that they are letting people leave early. I asked what time, cause like, I like to know my life? I take my lunch at one and come back at two, I want to know if I should move it. So anyway, we all got a 20 dollar gift card for LCBO since it's BYOB. I say my husband has a cold and I am starting to feel it and we won't be coming. I get asked to return the card. I did within a moment, and then I get a look like “Wow you actually aren't going”
Why are managers so WEIRD???? WHY DO THEY SWING THEIR D***S AROUND ABOUT THE WEIRDEST SHIT???
What kind of power move is planning a Christmas party you don't give people the ability to prepare for and then act like they committed a crime by not going??? I'm so weirdly irritated by this behavior. They have been obsessing about all the weird shit about this party. Spent hours wrapping gifts, driving the gifts to the venue, collecting gifts, buying cards, but cant even provide a basic email with times? Im baffled at this. This is why I'm antisocial when it comes to work. I am friendly and cordial but that is it.
If they say I have to stay at work since I'm not going, what should I do?
