My company Christmas party is on Friday. We were all told that it was an 8 hour paid day whether you go to it or not. The party is about 2.5 hours from where I live. It’s at our corporate branch. I decided a few weeks ago I would not be going. Hotel, gas, and sitting in a room full of people I hate. It was an easy choice to make. Also they pick you up down the street and leave you all day at the event, and no alcohol.
My boss send an email today saying it was not mandatory to go However if you did not go, you would not be paid 8 hours for the day. Even if you are salary.
I just feel like if you have to bribe people into coming, something is wrong.
