Suffered an injury at work after a fall, resulting in some broken bones. This was caused by equipment not being maintained.
I wasn’t doing anything wrong AND it was witnessed by management. Yet they refuse to accept fault.
The company is self insured under worker’s compensation, as some major companies in Australia are. Which means they make their own decisions regarding work cover payments. So I have to appeal to the governing body if my state.
They’re fighting it. I’m not allowed to work even on light duties until I’m fully cleared. I have to pay lawyers, still pay a mortgage and raise my son with no income while this fight goes to court. “But you’ll be back paid if you win”. Great. Minus legal costs and it doesn’t help me now.
I genuinely don’t know how I keep paying bills as this drags on. Which is exactly what they want.
At every turn they delay the process or stall my lawyer. Why are they even allowed to legally do this. Destroying mine and my sons lives because of their own incompetence.
Sorry for the rant. But big corporations can go get fucked.
