Hi guys I work for a little store in a mall we sell shoes. We get graded on if we sell enough socks and shirts and extra shit that ppl don’t come in for. Typical retail bullshit. The thing is it’s not just being graded on it. We get fired if we don’t sell enough extra items. So at the end of the month my coworkers and I are pretty much forced into buying junk we don’t want or need in order to keep our jobs. Something feels gross about it. It really does infuriate me esp as a member of this sub and I’m tired of being fucked over. We all make essentially minimum wage on top of that.
The company also requires that we wear shoes that they carry. I told my boss I have a medical condition which is true so I need to wear the shoes I already bought to work in previously. If the district manager asks I’ll straight up just tell him “ok which ones will the company be providing me?” But I think that’s pretty unethical as well.
Is there anything I can do about this ?
