Company ghosted me after requesting dubbing of a corporate video, but let the temp link expire.

First of all, let me state this. Never work for any pharmaceutical company in India, my experience so far has been horrible. Anyway, this new client contacted me, and at the beginning they would pay me more or less punctually. Then they requested a video be transcribed, translated, adapted for dubbing, then dubbed. Supposedly they already had a transcription done, but it was machine made and it was awful and quite evidently no human being had reviewed it whatsoever. They were desperate and needed it ASAP, but “compromised” and gave me a few more days to get it done. So, I get the job done, and deliver a professional dub…and they ghosted me. No response of receipt of video link, or of invoice, or to any query for payment. Until yesterday. Until yesterday. They send me the equivalent of three days worth of work and tell me it is their understanding that I will be the one to translate it. My response was “I am not doing jack until I get paid”. And they said they would pay me Tuesday. I reminded them they had not even paid their past assignment and as such, my condition to doing this was payment in advance for current and past assignments. They said to give them a few minutes to confirm. They never answered.

Then today they ask me if I still have the video I dubbed. I say yes, but what about their copy? They say they had forgotten to download it, and to please reshare. My answer?

Not. Until. I. Am. Paid.

I think they are now realizing their fiscal year meeting is not going to have a lot of translated documents, and they are in panic mode. One of the guys even called me unprofessional. My response? “You don't want to know what I call those who don't pay me”.

Honestly, screw Indian pharmaceutical companies.
