Company going to try to screw me out of Q4 bonus

I’m about to quit a toxic work environment (a startup that feels more like a reality TV show). My offer letter says I will be paid out monthly commissions, but since I started — my bonus has been spoken of and paid as quarterly. My compensation plan has also changed multiple times (not favorably — the goal is always moving), as well as my job responsibilities (but not my title). I think that when I quit, if I even make it to the first week of January without being fired, they are going to try to screw me out of my Q4 bonus. They won’t put anything in writing in regards to nuances around “if you are employed as of this date, you are still entitled to the bonus”. Since my offer letter SAYS monthly payouts, do I have a case to fight for my rightfully owed compensation?
