Company keeps hosting BBQs and making employees cook and clean

I am a Marketing & Communications Coordinator and part of my job description is internal comms. We're usually the ones organising company events from product launches to Christmas morning tea. These events are set by my boss and the CEO and lately, they have been into company BBQs and I'm the lackey that organises the whole thing including having to ask people to cook and clean. Everyone hates it. The food is not enough for a company of 150 pax (with half being engineers who work in engines all day) with a budget of $250 and my boss insists in throwing a few steaks in the grill… so imagine how much that eats up the whole budget. Secondly, all the departments are intensely short staffed so being pulled away for 2-3 hours to cook and clean is a massive toll in the overall workforce. We're also salaried so we don't…

Everyone hates it. I already told my boss this as I take the brunt of the complaints and the pushback. I even quoted another manager saying that this isn't the best way to engage with employees. Her only reply was, “that's her opinion.” I believe there are other options like have $5 pizzas delivered.

We might be the choosing beggars here but this is a company who did not give any raises in salary despite the cost of living rising up to 5% this year, have given me a final offer that is $5000 less than what was initially discussed (and same tactic was done with other employees right after they went through grueling interviews and exams), and where the CEO just boasted that the company has maintained to be a billion dollar company even during the pandemic.

I really want to quit already but I hate having work experience that is less than a year in my resume. 🙁 Every week though, there's 2-3 employees quitting and I can't wait for August so I can finally leave.
