i was looking for a new job for almost a year. applied to around 200 places and mostly didn’t hear back from anyone. i FINALLY got a job offer and was so happy to leave my current position that i was incredibly unhappy at. two days after i signed the offer letter (and put in my two weeks) they told me the offer was rescinded.
the timeline was:
friday: talked to one of the ceos about benefits, pay, etc. then they sent me a bunch of personality and aptitude tests.
saturday: i took the tests
monday: was offered the job, signed the offer letter, and put in my two weeks
wednesday: got an email saying my offer was rescinded and to give them a call.
so i called. they sent me the offer letter before they got the results back from my personality test. apparently my “personality profile” matches the personality profile of someone who works there and him and the other ceo butt heads a lot because of the ceos personality so they don’t think i’d be happy at the company.
honestly, they’re right, but not for the reason they think they are.
pretty sure what they did was illegal but i didn’t feel like it was worth fighting and that’s definitely not a company i want to be working for. sent them an email with some choice words and then never heard anything from them again.
come to find out later that they’re getting sued by their former employer because their whole company is based off proprietary information they took when they resigned.
