Company switching to fingerprint/facial recognition payroll soft ware. What are the drawbacks to do this?

The only update was an email from the new payroll company to create a profile. It's a well known company and I have read over the terms and conditions. I'm feel like there may be something that I am missing about having my face used for signing in? Is this common place or should I be more protective of my information/face?
