This may sound nice in the first place but here is what happens:
In my company we have a hybrid schedule policy in which we are allowed to wfh 2 days and need to be in the office 3 days per week. The parents in my office don't take it too serious and are usually only a day or 2 in the office (some of them maybe once every 1 or 2 months). I – having no kids – started doing the same and figured nobody would mind. After a week of doing so (I've been to the office only on Tue and Wed, so I only missed one day), my supervisor asked where I have been. I responded that I wanted to wfh more such as he does. He appeard to be mad and said he missed 2 days this week because he had to pick up his son from the daycare and had to take care of him one day as his wife was on a conference. He was in the office one day and justified the other 2 days as they are his typical wfh days. He is at the office AT MOST 2 days per week, every week. Is this acceptable? Not judging anyone working from home if you can, I'm just confused about such double standards.
I'm a software dev and can do 100% of my work from home. I also have proven to do so in over 2 years of wfh where the office was closed due to the pandemic, and in which I was promoted due to my performance.
Any advise on how to deal with it in the future? I don't want to switch jobs as I really like what I'm doing but I do love working from home as it is just so much cozier and cheaper.
